Field guides / Choosing and finishing work

What finishes this contract?

Before accepting, read the last objective first. It tells you whether you need a delivery terminal, a named contact, a specific target or something as simple as showing up.

What to check

  1. Read the offer aloud

Note the issuer, pickup, exact destination, required item or action, payout, fee and any expiry you actually see. Ask who is accepting. A friend reciting an offer is not the same as it appearing in your own contract list. See RSI’s contract guide.

  2. Try one test at each handoff

Once accepted, track the job and compare its text with the marker. Check the identity of the first crate or target before moving it. At delivery, use the named recipient or terminal and watch the objective counter, not just the animation.

  3. If the marker or object disappears

Compare the active contract, location and last completed step. Recheck the correct pickup or hand-in surface once. If the item is absent or the objective never advances, record the failed step, time and build before risking more cargo.

Worked example

The crate is gone but the job is still active

You hand over a box and the job still reads one item outstanding. Check the remaining item and recipient before flying back. If the original job still names that exact crate and terminal, mark it as an unresolved hand-in. An empty cargo grid is proof of neither payment nor mission credit.

Proceed or hold

Proceed when
Your contract state actually shows completion. Note any separate change to wallet or standing only if you observed it.
Hold when
You cannot identify the correct object or the active objective. A similar job with a similar title does not replace it.
