Field guides / Choosing and finishing work
Do I have the recipe, or just a lead?
Search for the finished item first and write down its exact name and version. A recipe listing, a reward pool and your list of owned recipes answer different questions.
What to check
Find a candidate source
Use SC-Toolbox’s blueprint search to locate the recipe and a possible source. Read whether the item is a guaranteed reward, a choice or one member of a group. If the listing does not say, record “reward unconfirmed.” Look for the matching issuer and objective on your own contract board.
Verify what you own
After a claimed unlock, open your own recipe list at the intended crafting interface. Check that the selected output and variant match your plan. Owning the finished item or seeing its preview is not the same as owning the recipe.
Check the job before committing materials
Copy the required materials, units, quantity, grade if shown, station and time from your own job preview. Inspect the storage the interface is actually using. Only mark the craft complete after you can identify the output in the receiving inventory.
Worked example
Enough material by name, not enough eligible material
On a practice sheet your recipe calls for 12 units. You own eight units in the selected storage and six more elsewhere. The total is 14, but you have only verified eight for this job. Move or select the remainder only if the interface allows it; reopen the preview before paying.
Proceed or hold
- Proceed when
- The owned recipe, eligible inputs and output destination all match the job you intend to queue.
- Hold when
- The recipe is only a potential drop, the quality requirement is unclear, or starting the job would consume materials you meant to keep.
